Keep Content Fresh
Fresh content is a great way to keep your visitors coming back. Search engines also rank pages with fresh content higher. Maintaining an active blog is a great way to keep your website new and fresh.
But how do you create a great blog post that attracts the right audience? Follow these five steps.
- Identify your buyer personas: Learn more about your target market. We understand everything from job titles to pain points.
- Conduct SEO research: Know what your audience is searching for on search engines so you can provide the best content.
- Write a draft: Start by drafting a post that answers your audience’s questions. Use interesting angles to make your contribution stand out.
- Publish: Publish the post to your blog site. Optimize your content with SEO tools.
- Promote: Promote your blog post on social media and email newsletters to generate traffic. The more traffic your post gets, the higher it ranks in search engines.
Also when visitors visit your blog, you want them to continue reading other pages on your site. That’s why internal links, which are links to other pages within your site, are very important. When visitors navigate to other pages on your site, they are more likely to convert and become brand enthusiasts.
For example, the column/cluster model can be used to create an internal link structure. Pillar pages and cluster pages link back and forth, increasing your site’s credibility with search engines and increasing your chances of conversion.
Help Visitors Contact You / Community Building
Give your visitors easy access when they need it. Add a guestbook or blog where you can ask questions. Add a Contact Us form so you can email questions.
Building a community of brand enthusiasts is a great way to continuously drive traffic to your website. You can build a Facebook group, Twitter chat, LinkedIn Group, or Quora Space specifically for your followers and others in your industry where you create value, while also linking back to your site.
Use Descriptive File Names
Use descriptive keywords as names for the files (e.g., pictures, videos) on your site. This will help your site appear more with search engines – especially through things like Google Image Search.
Also when naming your website files, it’s best to be consistent and keep things simple. Sometimes you need more complicated naming conventions or multiple versions of files on your hard drive or shared drive, but simplifying filenames for the web means it will reduce the risks that links will break and other people being unable to open files.
- Don’t Use Dates (Unless you have multiple versions of a file online)
- Remove spaces (Browsers turn the character for a space into “%20” and that gets really messy. Use Mixed Case or underscores instead of spaces)
- Use consistent capitalization (This makes it easier to remember what you named a file, and also avoids a tricky difference between most of your computers’ operating systems and the web server’s)

Getting links to your website from other websites can generate more traffic and improve your search engine rankings. Find other free sites on the same topic and add links to them on your site. Perhaps a new “favorite links” page. Then ask these sites to link to you by signing their guestbook.
To get more traffic to your website, it needs to rank higher in search engines. To rank high in search engines, you need to be an authority in your industry. The one method other than the topic/cluster model is to get high quality backlinks. Credibility increases when authoritative websites link to your website.
Tagging Your Site
Adding a website tag can increase the number of times your website appears in search results. To choose the right keywords, put yourself in your visitors’ shoes and think about what they would search for if they wanted to find your website.
When people google one of your blog tags, they will be taken to that tag’s page and updated with all the information they need.
Blog tagging best practices (Keep the following in mind when creating blog tags):
-
Keep it between 1 and 3 words short.
-
Don’t use different variations of the same word, such as SEO, search engine optimization, SEO tips. Choose one.
-
If you create a new tag, keep adding content using that tag. Consistency is key.
- Similarly, don’t create blog tags that are too specific. If you don’t think your company will write another blog along these lines, choose another tag.
Blog tagging serves two purposes. Make it easier to organize and make it easier for your website visitors to find what they’re looking for. Starting a blog can be difficult, and organizing all the content you need can be even more difficult. If you’re using a blog hosting site like WordPress or a CMS like HubSpot, you’ll find options like plugins and widgets to enhance your blog.
There are different types of tools, all of which are used to make your blog more personal. Think of widgets as different spices that you can use to add a special element to your web pages. A plugin, on the other hand, is a container that retrieves widgets.
Adding widgets will help your visitors interact with your site, get useful information, or just have fun. They are free and easy to add.
